    Introduction

At long last we are able to give you the news you’ve all been waiting for; SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson is coming to Europe & Australia on the Nintendo 3DS™! Better still, we’re embarking on our first ever pre-order programme to help deliver exactly what you’ve been asking for - physical & collectors’ editions!

    About SENRAN KAGURA 2

    About

SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson is the latest Nintendo 3DS title in the infamous SENRAN KAGURA franchise. For those who aren’t familiar, expect a fast-paced beat ‘em up game with insane combo chains, plenty of playable characters, hilarious cutscenes and an abundance of tantalising action!

The game picks up directly where its Nintendo 3DS predecessor SENRAN KAGURA Burst left off, and follows the Hanzo & Hebijo Shinobi Academies as they battle for good and evil respectively. This time however there is a greater evil at work, as the tyrannous tycoon behind the Hebijo Academy is hell-bent on raining terror across all of Japan by utilising a destructive army of summoned demons! This great danger thrusts the girls together and forces them to unite and work as one in a way the series has never seen before.

    Features

In addition to the epic narrative, Deep Crimson takes the SENRAN KAGURA Nintendo 3DS franchise to whole new levels in terms of gameplay and extra features. There are a plethora of upgrades, including:

    • Pair Battles - For the first time ever, two shinobi warriors from opposing academies must fight together, and the dual character combo system allows for spectacular and devastating joint attacks.

    • Improved graphics and stellar audio - The graphical improvement from ‘Burst’ is dramatic, with full 3D environments, improved animations and a better framerate! This is combined with original Japanese voice-overs to create a gorgeous experience all-round.

    • Local & Nintendo WiFi Co-op mode - For the first time on Nintendo 3DS, two players will be able to join forces and play the story or special missions together via ad hoc multiplayer or online.

•Improved Dressing Room - The dressing room is stocked with hundreds of items, and this time up to two shinobi can be present in the dressing room at once! Also, for the very first time in the series you can pose the girls in a variety of positions, and even pose them in real life environments using the Nintendo 3DS' built-in camera!

In addition to the core SENRAN KAGURA 2 experience, there are also three separate bundles of DLC scheduled for Western release. If you’ve followed the Japanese version closely you’ll know they are something special!

We’ll be providing more details about these in the coming weeks and months, but rest assured that they will be coming some time after launch.

    Why Pre-orders?

Over the last year, we've been delighted to release some great games like SENRAN KAGURA SHINOVI VERSUS and Rune Factory 4 in Europe. Because of limited resources (we're only a very small team and have to operate financially independently from our parent company), we've released these games digitally only.

Although they've sold really well and we’re extremely proud of our achievements, many of our customers have made clear they'd really like us to be releasing physical versions as well.

Since the beginning we’ve also REALLY wanted to make physical releases and special editions a big part of what we offer - and now it’s time for action!

There are 3 key reasons why we think exclusive pre-orders are the best option, which you can read about below:

    Flexibility and Choice

Having our own pre-order site with the option for multiple levels means that we can include extra special goodies that we couldn’t provide any other way. Our ‘Ultimate Shinobi’ edition, signed by Kenichiro Takaki himself, will be a limited to a run of just 50!

This is also the very first pre-order programme for us, and we are hoping that we can learn from it. For example, if we see that people love the ‘Happy Boobs’ and ‘Ultimate Shinobi’ editions, we’ll be able to go even further with future projects - think even more tiers, exclusive goodies, figurines...the opportunities are endless!

    Direct Communication

One of the best things about games such as SENRAN KAGURA is the dedicated, informed and extremely passionate fans. We have been taking steps to engage more with our community (hiring our new community manager for example), and we think this project will take our relationship with the community one step further.

Having a sustained pre-order campaign will ensure that we can keep fans informed throughout the process, with regular updates and fresh content all of the time!

We’ll be updating this site with cool new information, screenshots, videos and much more in the coming months, so make sure to check back here as often as possible for the very latest details!

    Doing More Cool Stuff

For niche games like SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson, there are considerable obstacles and risks associated with physical releases.

Some retailers don't want to stock anything other than the biggest selling games - which can make it difficult for games like SENRAN KAGURA 2 to get in stores at all. The biggest hurdle is the cost of creating the cartridges themselves - everything we make has a minimum order quantity and the cost to manufacture them all is pretty significant. Running a pre-order programme partially solves this problem, as we can prepare for this financial outlay in advance, which significantly lowers our financial risk and improves our cash flow. This is of course also good for fans and customers alike, as it means our business is far more sustainable for the future!

What we hope is that we can sell these games and special editions direct to our customers. This makes it much easier for us to cover our costs which, in turn, makes it easier for us to bring you more great Japanese games in the future.

If this pre-order programme works out, we can imagine using it in the future - not just for physical editions and limited editions, but also to help us learn what other languages we should be supporting. While we can't do that this time around, we'd love to bring multi-language games out too, and can do it with your help.

    Project Outline

The pre-order programme is live RIGHT NOW, and you’re able to reserve your very own copy now by pressing any of the various ‘Buy Now’ buttons seen on the site itself.

All of the items in each edition will be will be made to order, and so full refunds will be available at any time up until we make said order. We’ll make sure to announce on the ‘updates’ page when exactly this will be. Reasons why we are taking funds now and not when the project succeeds can be found in the FAQ section.

As for progress on the localisation itself - things are going well so far! While we have no official release date to announce just yet, it should be in Q3 of 2015 and our target month is August. Please be aware that dates do slip sometimes, so it's possible that the game will come a little later.

SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson will also be released digitally via the Nintendo eShop on the 3DS, and the physical and digital release dates will be synchronised as closely as possible.

    Gameplay Video

    Screenshots

  • The Girls

    Asuka

    Japanese: 飛鳥
    Voiced By: Hitomi Harada

A second year student at Hanzo National Academy. Her grandfather Hanzō is renowned as a legendary shinobi, and is the academy’s namesake. Given her remarkable pedigree, she has a lot of hidden potential within her and bears a strong sense of justice.

No matter how hard she may try, though, she can never quite bring herself to look as intimidating as she wants to, likely due to her overall bright and positive personality. Over time, she’s become a source of immense moral support for her friends and fellow shinobi.

    Ikaruga

    Japanese: 斑鳩
    Voiced By: Asami Imai

A third-year student at Hanzo National Academy, she is the class president and the successor to the Houou family organisation’s shinobi line. However, she is not their biological heir, which has led to numerous feuds with her adoptive brother over who should rightfully bear the family’s legacy.

She was given special classes from a very young age and can perform tea ceremonies and cook fine Japanese cuisine, but when creating new recipes on the fly, her meals are… interesting, to say the least. Though typically gentle, thoughtful and kind, she is also a very proud person; when her emotions flare, no one can lay a hand on her.

    Katsuragi

    Japanese: 葛城
    Voiced By: Yu Kobayashi

A third-year student at Hanzo National Academy. She’s over-the-top and easily moved to tears, yet she has an older sister-like demeanour that’s thoroughly endeared her to the other members of her class.

There are some ways she might be too over-the-top to her classmates, however, as she tends to be very hands-on in an inappropriate manner. And while these "dirty old man" tendencies of hers can be a little embarrassing for her and anyone else around her, she also constantly strives to become stronger than her peers and spares no effort to that end. Sometimes, she becomes so dedicated to this cause that it even makes her come across as a bit stoic…

    Yagyu

    Japanese: 柳生
    Voiced By: Kaori Mizuhashi

A first-year student at Hanzo National Academy. She’s only just begun her training this year, yet she knows that the shinobi world is ruthless and is fully prepared to accept that way of life. This resolution is born from the considerable power she wields, but it’s approval she seeks above all else; she exists to be acknowledged by her fellow shinobi class members.

Although she’s rather taciturn most days, her need for acceptance occasionally causes her to come across as lonely. Being the same age as Hibari, the two of them have formed something of a sisterly bond, making Hibari one of the few people to whom she’ll willingly open up to.

    Hibari

    Japanese: 雲雀
    Voiced By: Yuka Iguchi

A first-year student at Hanzo National Academy. Although she was born into a long line of prestigious shinobi, she feels as if her skills are somewhat lacking. Espionage is her strongest suit, but she’s still a bit immature (like most blooming adults are wont to be) and tends to be the troublemaker in her shinobi class.

Still, she works hard in everything she does and is beloved by her entire class due to her single-minded attitude and entirely genuine nature.

    Homura

    Japanese: 焔
    Voiced By: Eri Kitamura

A second-year student at Hebijo Academy. She aims to be the very best shinobi, and will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. As an elite Hebijo member, she has immense ability as well as strong leadership skills.

While her voice may sound slightly masculine, her good manners show her true femininity. She is grateful to her friends and relentless toward her rivals, but respects and admires the strong regardless of their affiliation.

    Yomi

    Japanese: 詠
    Voiced By: Ai Kayano

A second-year student at Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy. She grew up in the slums, and so grew both her longing to live in an affluent house and hatred of those privileged enough to be born into wealth in the first place. She has a special hatred for Ikagura for those exact reasons.

She adopts an exaggerated fighting style by brandishing a sword longer than her entire body and also shooting a cannon. It's also worth mentioning that she LOVES bean sprouts!

    Hikage

    Japanese: 日影
    Voiced By: Ryoko Shiraishi

A third-year student at Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy. She’s expressionless and largely wordless, to the point that nobody can ever quite tell what she’s thinking.

She claims to have no emotions, but she’s surrounded by friends who are frank and upfront with their feelings, giving her an almost scientific curiosity about the very concept of human emotion. Her weapon of choice is the knife, which she wields with grace and aplomb.

    Mirai

    Japanese: 未来
    Voiced By: Saori Gotou

A first-year student at Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy. While her graciousness in defeat may suggest a certain level of maturity, in truth she can be immature and disobedient. Her lack of maturity is best displayed in her hatred of being ignored.

While it can sometimes be hard for her being surrounded by more mature shinobi, overall she is very happy to be a member of the Hebijo Academy. Her umbrella is a concealed firearm, and she hides other heavy weapons under her skirt.

    Haruka

    Japanese: 春花
    Voiced By: Megumi Toyoguchi

A third-year student at Hebijo Acadeny . She’s a sadistic character who acts like the queen of the castle, and her favourite thing in the world is to tease the weak. Yet despite this, she cradles her juniors’ feelings and acts almost like a mother figure to them. This maternal instinct is probably the reason why she is fond of Hibari from Hanzo Academy.

She uses chemical weapons and puppetry, concealing the inner workings of her strategies under her white coat.

    Other Characters

    Rin

    Japanese: 凛
    Voiced By: Suzuko Mimori

Also known as Suzune (鈴音), Rin is a teacher at Hebijo Academy. She is strict with the other students but they respect her because of this. Once upon a time she was once a student at Hanzo Academy, and her fierce rivalry with Daidōji stems from these times.

Rin brandishes a Fūma Shuriken in battle, and she wields the four-bladed weapon with extreme skill and dexterity. You don't wan't to misbehave around her!

    Daidoji

    Japanese: 大道寺
    Voiced By: Yu Asakawa

A third year at Hanzo Academy, Daidoji is a senior student who is well-respected by the other students. She possesses immense strength and agility and prefers to run into battle head-on rather than hiding in the shadows.

Daidoji typically fights weaponless, instead harnessing the power of her fists.

    Kagura

    Japanese: かぐら
    Voiced By: Yuki Matsuoka

A young girl who shares a name with the most elite and secret shinobi rank. On the run from monsters, she ran into the vacationing Hanzo Academy students, who decided to help her. While she looks and sounds like a child, the things she talks about are not childish at all. Her young age means that she has no combat skills whatsoever, and it's down to her companion Naraku to offer her protection.

    Naraku

    Japanese: 奈楽
    Voiced By: Yuko Kaida

Naraku appeared in the Old Capital together with Kagura. Asuka and the other Hanzo Academy students rescued them both from monsters. She is Kagura's one and only guardian, and she follows the young girl's commands.

Her weapons are two iron balls attached to her feet. She has the power to control their size, and uses this ability to devastating effect.

    Murasame

    Japanese: 村雨
    Voiced By: Kanehira Yamamoto

Murasame is the son of the Houou family and Ikaruga is his adopted sister. He failed to become the heir of his family's legacy due to a perceived lack of shinobi skills - something his sister has in abundance. He wishes that the two of them could put their differences aside, but every time they are together they seem to argue.

His weapon of choice is a chain-sickle - and since he won 6th place in a weapon proficiency championship it has not left his side.

    Dogen

    Japanese: 道元
    Voiced By: Tomoyuki Terai

One of the investors behind Hebijo Academy, Dogen is secretly hell-bent on raining terror across all of Japan. He has the grounding of a shinobi warrior and has mastered the art of manipulation.

Driven by his lust for power, he aims to resurrect ancient demons to do his bidding.

    FAQ

    What are your billing terms?
You can pay with your credit card or PayPal. We bill you in full at the time of order. Our full terms and conditions can be seen here.

Why do you take the funds from my credit card now, rather than waiting until the game is released?
As mentioned in the ‘Project Outline’ section, the primary reason for taking funds in advance is to actually cover the costs of manufacturing the cartridges and limited edition extras, which are made to order.

What if I change my mind and want a refund?
Full refunds are available at any time until we place the orders with our suppliers - so if for any reason you change your mind before this, you’re free to get your money back without question. After that, because units are being made to order, we're unable to allow cancellation. Similarly, if you decide later on that the Shinobi Collectors’ Edition is too good to miss out on, you’ll be able to request a refund and then upgrade! If you would like a refund then you should contact support@marvelousgames.com

When will you announce the release date?
Our target release date is August 2015. The final release date will depend on three key factors. Firstly, the game will need to be rated by the various classification boards. PEGI (Europe), USK (Germany) and ACB (Australia) all have slightly different processes and take different amounts of time to complete. If there are any queries or requirements on their side, then this can add time to the release schedule. Secondly, the game will need to pass Nintendo quality assurance - the required time for this can vary significantly depending on whether any significant bugs are discovered during the QA process, and the time taken for the game's developer to fix them. Finally, it’s our intention to try to synchronise our launch with XSEED (Marvelous USA) so this may also be an influencing factor. So, please take the target release date only as an estimate. We will, of course, keep you updated on any changes to that date.

Please note, the game is already launched in Japan - your pre-order payments are not to support the development of the game, just the production of the physical versions for the European/Australian territories.

    What languages will be available?
SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson will only be available in English, with the original Japanese voiceovers. As we have mentioned above, we would love to be able to release our titles in multiple languages in the future. We think that pre-ordering could be a fantastic way to see whether there is sufficient demand for this!

Is SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson appropriate for all ages?
No it is not! Sexual innuendo & seductiveness are turned up to 11 in SENRAN KAGURA games, which means it’s not appropriate for younger audiences. We can’t be exactly sure what age ratings SENRAN KAGURA 2 will receive, but we are expecting PEGI 16, USK 16 and ACB M15.

Will SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson be released Digitally?
Yes, SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson will also be released digitally via the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo 3DS, and the physical and digital release dates will be synchronised as closely as possible.

Will these copies of SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson work on any Nintendo 3DS system?
No they will not. Physical copies of SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson sold on this website will ONLY work on systems made for 'PAL' territories (Europe, Australia, NZ, Africa, Middle East).

    How are delivery costs calculated?
We are based in the UK (Kent to be precise) and we’ll be sending all of our deliveries out from a warehouse based in the UK. This means that the shipping costs of each edition will vary depending on where you are based geographically.

These varying costs are all based on the prices charged to us for shipping by our logistics suppliers. The only costs we are adding on are the shipping itself. Other things - packaging, boxes, etc, are all included in our base prices. We will not be making ANY profit or markup on shipping costs. We did explore the possibility of having a separate warehouse in mainland Europe, but the logistical issues caused by this meant that it was not viable at this stage.

Why are the shipping costs high?
It's important to us that everyone gets their packages safely, so we are only using 'tracked and signed' shipping for all orders. This does add some cost, unfortunately.

    What about taxes?
The prices shown on the home page are inclusive of EU VAT at 20%. If you're in the EU, your shipping cost is also subject to VAT.

Those outside the EU - when you get to the checkout and enter your country for delivery, the VAT will be removed from your bill, and you will not be charged VAT on your delivery costs. However, please be aware that you may be liable for import taxes or other charges when taking delivery into your country. You are responsible for paying all these taxes yourself, and may find that you have to make a payment to your local customs or delivery company before they are able to release the package to you.

What is your policy on censorship?
In short, our intention is to release a version of SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson that is identical to the version released by our friends over at XSEED (Marvelous USA).

We have also recently hired a community manager (shout out to @Drazzan) who will be ensuring that we are as transparent as possible, so if any changes are required we will update this page and our website with all relevant information.

Will the game be available in shops?
Currently, our plan is to sell these physical copies, and limited editions, exclusively via our websites. If there’s sufficient demand for them, we plan to offer a lot more physical and limited editions directly to customers in future.
